Whether you need to clear space for new landscaping, eliminate a safety risk, or remove a tree that’s damaged or diseased, our experienced team handles the job with precision and care. We take pride in minimizing disruption to your landscape and ensuring your property is left clean and ready for your next project.

Young Tree Training Young tree training helps establish early form so that the tree develops into an attractive specimen.

Class I, II, III, and IV This type of pruning includes the removal of dead, dying, diseased, interfering, objectionable and weak branches as well as selective trimming to lessen wind resistance and to increase sunlight through the canopy, leaving the exterior size and shape of the tree.

Safety Pruning Safety pruning is the removal of selective large hazardous/dangerous limbs.

Fruit Pruning This specific way of pruning is tailored towards fruit production and accessibility.

Hedge and Shrub Pruning This type of pruning keeps hedges and shrubs looking their best, while giving them the ability to grow to their fullest capacity.

Cabling and Bracing Cables and rods are sometimes used to give structural support to multi-trunked trees. They give added strength to help support weak or damaged branches from high winds and storms.

Stump Grinding

After tree or shrub removal, our stump grinding service removes stumps and surface roots up to 18 inches below grade, clearing the way for planting grass, flowers, or small trees.

Insect and Disease Management

Our expert treatments effectively control a wide range of insects, ensuring a healthy and thriving environment.

We offer treatment to control Emerald Ash Borer and other boring insects.

Below is a list of some of the common insects and diseases that we are able to help control.

Eastern Tent Caterpillars
Fall Web Worms
Gypsy Moth
Apple Scab
Bagworms
Anthracnose
Lace Bugs
Scale
Hemlock Wooly Adelgid
Spider Mites
Emerald Ash Borer
Dutch Elm Disease
Blights
Leaf Spot
Needle Castrms

Direct Root Fertilizing

Direct root fertilizing is the injection of fertilizer into the root zone of the tree or shrub. The injections are made from the base out to the drip line. Fertilizer promotes growth and helps the plant to naturally fight off insects and disease. It also helps the tree to recover if already damaged by insects, disease, winter damage and mechanical damage.

Bucket Truck Servicing

The two most common ways to prune or remove a tree is to climb it or use a bucket truck/aerial lift truck. Certain circumstances clearly call for one method over the other. Sometimes a combination would be the best way to do the job. An aerial lift or bucket truck provides a safe means from which to remove dangerous trees. We can not always put a climber in a rotten tree or a tree compromised after a storm.

Meet Our Team

Steve Keil

President and Founder of Keil Tree Experts

Meet Steve, the president and founder of Keil Tree Experts. Steve started Keil Tree as an ambitious young man, while attending Towson University. He grew up in the Springlake neighborhood in Cockeysville and has prioritized serving his childhood community and surrounding areas. His father was a veterinarian and passed his love of animals and nature on to him. Steve was able to utilize his love of nature through his work in the tree care industry. Not every tree we are called to service will need to be removed, pruned, or care. Steve will always give his honest opinion on the best way to proceed with the care of your tree. When he is not working, he can often be found working alongside Steve S. “Louie”, on the farm, propagating trees.

Steven Keil

Sales Executive

Steven is the eldest son of the Keil Tree Family. After graduating from local Hereford High, he went to West Virginia University where he studied horticulture. He is a licensed International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist, Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) member, and holds a pest applicator license with the MD Dept. of Agriculture. Steven has been a cornerstone to our team since 2006 and has been our primary sales representative since 2014. You are more than likely to meet him (and sometimes his 4 legged friend Jarvis) at some point in your services with us. The outdoors, as well as tree and insect identification have always been a big interest of his and he is able to bring that knowledge to your backyard. When Steven is not working, he can usually be found in the woods foraging for mushrooms, woodworking, camping out with his friends, or with his beautiful wife Kristina and the newest addition to the Keil family, their baby Nora.

Jeremy Keil

Equipment Operator/Foreman

Jeremy, the youngest son of the Keil family, can often be found on site at the time of your large removals and technical jobs. He is a lifetime local of the Hereford Zone and has been a huge asset to our team since 2008. He is meticulous and conscientious making him an excellent equipment operator and team supervisor. Jeremy is adept at operating our skid loader, mini skid, and lifts and always takes care to make sure the job is done right. In addition to his machinery operating skills, he assists Steven in sales and will be happy to give you a quote for any additional work while he is on site. When Jeremy is not working, he can be found checking on his growing number of honey bee hives or spending time with his girlfriend Rachael and their precious one year old daughter Adaline.

Mike

Treatment Technician

Mike oversees all of our treatments, including deep root feeding, micro injecting, spraying, and more. He is highly knowledgeable about insects, diseases, and their most effective treatments. With a degree in Turf Management, Mike has been applying his expertise to manage our treatment program for over 15 years. Steve S. Louie

Foreman of our Stump Grinding Operations

Steve has been a pivotal member of the Keil Tree team since the very first day and has been with us every step of the way after graduating from local Dulaney High School. Today, he serves as the foreman of our stump grinding operations. As one of the first employees of the company, he has been a crucial part of our success. Steve is known to go above and beyond and regularly gets compliments on his thorough clean-up. If you have a stump to be ground, you will most likely get to meet Steve and we are confident that you will be impressed by his hard work ethic. After work, he can be found working around the farm, splitting wood to burn some extra energy, or spending time with his grandchildren.
